BANK MEETING

So we went to HSBC because after some light research we discovered this would be the best bank to set up with as they have a team of advisors that help with small business ventures. Our meeting probably didnt go aswel as it could have, doing it again we probably should have been more prepared. We discussed everything from the business plan, 1year, 3year and 5year plans, revenue, initial ideas, longterm ideas etc. Had we had known we were going to go into such detail about every aspect we could of had more information prepared, regardless of our lack of experience and preparation in this area i think the meeting was somewhat successful, our advisor Simon has agreed to allow us a business account, with cards issued to the 3 of us for independent use. we plan to put equal amounts of money in this account and only use it for purchases relevant to the business, just so we are all aware of whats being spent and where our money is going.

WEBSITES

Whilst deciding on who our customer would be and who our target audience was, i also took some time to look at the types of places our garments could be sold, and where we would like them to be sold, so i looked at several websites which i thought our garments would fit: www.asos.com www.topshop.com www.bigcartel.com www.urbanoutfitters.com www.illustratedpeople.com www.longclothing.com www.sunkenclothing.com www.pulp.com www.bbc/icecream.com

NAME/LOGO IDEAS

Initially we'd decided between us that WKW, as in using letters from our names Keira Kay, Abby Wilson and Emma Wilson, for the name of the company would work best, however later on we thought it would maybe make the label seem to personal and perhaps not relevant to everybody so we discussed ways inwhich to change and improve this. I liked the idea of the out of space theme we'd had for some of the prints and thought it would work well to incooporate this into the name so we decided upon 'ORBIT' clothing, beneath that sub-labels for menswear, womenswear and unisex wear which would be mars, venus and uranus, with symbols to match.
out of the above symbols we picked upon the ones we most liked and which ones were more asthetically pleasing to the eye and decided we'd use these symbols further for printing.

POWERPOINT PRESENTATION

Revenue - ideas on how to start and then to progress with regards to revenue.
Style - a brief outline into what the ideas for the garments were.
USP - our ideas on how to be unique and how to capture the interest of the customer. Overall id like to think the presentation was a good and successful, whilst basic i think it well showed our plan and ideas.

POWERPOINT PRESENTATION

Things we liked - this was a basic slide just to show the sorts of styles we liked, just not predominently slogans or graphics.
Promotion - a slide to show different ways in-which we'd decided would be suitable and effective to advertise the business.
Photography - this was purely to explain the type of vibe we wanted to go with the style of garments we wanted to make, as i feel the way inwhich you advertise, style and photograph a garment is crucial in engaging the sort of audience you intend on targeting.

POWERPOINT PRESENTATION

Who is our customer? - a brief synopsis of who we were aiming to sell too.
Slogans - a slide to explain the sort of slogans we'd like to have on our garments.
Prints - we'd decided we quite liked the idea of using print detailing so together decided on some sorts that we'd liked and thought would look effective on t-shirts and vests.
Slogans/text - looking at some slogans and fonts that we liked, so we could show similar styles we wished to re-create.

POWERPOINT PRESENTATION

What is it? - this slide was breifly to explain what the business was, what we wanted to design and who we were.
Questionnaire - this was a small piece of research we had done prior to the meeting just so we had a basic idea as to what people wanted.
Target audience/ customer demographic - this was a slide to demonstrate who the audience was so that Claudia was aware who we were aiming at, and what sort of garments would suit that particular audience/customer. Here are the first few slides from the initial presentation we compiled to show Claudia our ideas, we decided on a powerpoint presentation because it seemed the most effective way to express our ideas and veiws.

INITIAL IDEAS

after talking over our basic ideas for the types of garments we wanted to create within the company i decided to do a few quick designs to show the girls and Claudia, just so that everyone could have an idea of the sort of thing we could create, so i thought putting a few ideas on paper would be the best way to portray what i wanted to design and contribute. luckily the girls liked my ideas and so we've decided to remain along the lines of these ideas and develop my designs to then create.

FIRST MEETING

After bringing together our ideas we had a meeting with Claudia just so we could get her advice and the go ahead with out plan of action. Thankfully Claudia was keen on the idea so we were able to get on with what we'd had planned. During the meeting we were advised to look at several aspects such as: -copyright -patent -names/logos -comparing prices so these are things we plan to look into and evaluate what works best for us.

WORK EXPERIENCE.

For our work experience module we were given the choice to find somewhere to work for 4-6 weeks, but instead Emma Wilson, Abby Wilson and myself decided to create a mini-business ourselves with shared ideas we'd all had.
